What to do with the Lower Classes?

Been a touch quiet here recently, i've been working on a Hit/Expertise FAQ post and it's turning into a big one! I should be posting that shortly, one last section to add, some graphics and links, then a final check and it's there.

In the meantime some light relief...

As another round of nerfs hit our PvP brethren with the Vindication nerf, a result of Ret pallys (apparently) overachieving in arena, there's still calls from some of the classes that are struggling to buff them while other classes get the nerfs. But what exactly should Blizzard do with the lower classes?

Well, it's a thought...

My what a lot of posts you have...

Well, i went through the slightly tiresome task of linking relevant loot to all the bosses through Ulduar (fun! -.-) So the posts are there and ready for me to add some text to, as I've done with the earlier guides.

At the end i figured, actually, even without the tips in they make a pretty reasonable loot-guide for Ret's so why not throw them up now and fill in the blanks later? :)

I'll get to it...

Oh, if you don't get a tooltip on some of the Yoggy/Algalon loot just yet it's because i can't find them in the Wowhead database, so i've linked to the jpg's that MMO-Champion publish - and you thought i was just slacking :P

Real Life Tips - 2nd Edition

If after months of neglect you finally have a washed, polished, clean and shiny car again... you can guarantee that when you come out from work the next day there'll be a big white bird-shit smack in the middle of the bonnet that's so big, you'd swear it must have made a dent.

Fucking birds -.-

New Patch Commentary - 3.1.3

A relatively minor patch this time around, but lets see what Blizz have in store for us ...

Paladin
  • Eye For An Eye: This talent now deals 5/10% of the critical strike damage taken by the paladin back at the attacker. - A minor PvP nerf, nothing to affect the raiders here.
  • Hand of Freedom: The base duration of this buff has been reduced from 10 seconds to 6 seconds. - Again another nerf directed towards PvP and while useful occasionally, unlikely to affect raiders in any significant way.

Aha, some Raid changes too...

Ulduar - Mimiron
  • The flight time of Rocket Strikes has been increased, and Rocket Strikes will try to prefer players at range. - Uneccessary imo, i found there was plenty of time and space for both melee and ranged that had their eyes open, infact imo a more sensible change would be to have a slightly more clear ground affect, if anything
  • The Leviathan Mk II component of the V-07-TR-0N will become stunned during Phase 4 when the VX-001 component begins to cast the P3Wx2 Laser Barrage ability. - Now i understand the frustration this can cause while learning, but again with a little practice i know our tank got this nailed, and is now able to control the base of the boss through this period with reasonable comfort, if not ease.
  • Proximity mines now deal less damage and have a lower duration. A small arming time has also been added so proximity mines will not immediately detonate on creation. - I could argue either way on this change, for sure on a couple of occasions the mine landed RIGHT ontop of me and blew me into Bejeweled's sweet embrace, but in retrospect i always thought if i'd been more aware those deaths were avoidable.

So, some minor PvP nerfs and a fairly major nerf to the final phase of my favourite boss of Ulduar sofar. We got off pretty lightly and clearing Ulduar just got a bundle easier, on the whole a mildly dissapointing patch form my perspective, but not the end of the world for us.

Annoying

You can't see it but hovering just down the right hand side of the screen is a long green stripe.

No, I've not gone mental....erm.... MORE mental

It seems like my shiny, new(ish) 23" widescreen monitor has developed a fault, in the form of a 1 pixel wide bright green stripe running from top to bottom near the right edge of my monitor. It's like a tiny, evil gardener has mown a perfect strip down the screen...

"Shenanigans"

Ah, beatiful weather here in blighty at the moment, between enjoying that *feels pink + swollen back of neck*, raiding and a new addiction to World of Goo (must be careful not to abbreviate that...) I haven't got back to the blog for a day or 2. While i've been gone it seems there has been some of the aforementioned shenanigans going on in the pally community.

It all centres around a very popular blog from the now infamous 'Ferarro', check here for more info:

http://ferarro.blogspot.com/2009/05/catharsis.html
http://www.retpaladin.com/warcraft/2009/05/a-public-adress-to-the-ferarro-situation/
http://www.wow.com/2009/05/31/the-curious-case-of-ferarro/

I'm not going over the story again like so many others have, only to say that

1. Regardless of the poster, most, if not all of the guides on that site seem well informed and well written.
2. The site does (or did - changed template now) look like crap :P
3. It's likely that the only person/people that will ever know the truth about who exactly was posting on the site are those involved
4. Unfortunately the reputation of the site, it's future and that of the community following it has been severely, if not irrecoverably compromised

If you're interested I'd take the opportunity to check out these guides before the future of the site is decided : http://ferarro.blogspot.com/search/label/How%20to%3A%20Retribution

No doubt there'll be much speculation on the subject in the future, but without any major revelations I'm done with the subject. If you'll excuse me, i've got business to take care of with a certain 'Yoggy' this evening so i bid you farewell.
